Enjoyed another grand morning of sunshine and shadows at the Great Marsh – Indiana Dunes National Park.
“I believe in the sun even when it is not shining
And I believe in love even when there’s no one there
And I believe in God even when He is silent“

Macro Monday
Stop! That’s close enough with that camera, missy.
I came across this colorful bee, buzzing from flower to flower in the garden at Chellberg Farm – Indiana Dunes National Park. After a few clicks, I decided it was time to walk away when it seemed to glare right at me.

Don’t tell a soul, but I occasionally get off familiar trails to explore. On this day, I came across quite a surprise. An old, abandoned car overtaken by the landscape of the Indiana Dunes National Park.
Have you stepped off the beaten path lately?

Sunrise over Lake Michigan is like an open door to the darkness at the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk, Indiana Dunes National Park.
“The great fact in life,
the always possible escape from dullness was the lake.
The sun rose out of it;
The day began there:
It was like an open door that nobody could shut.”
– Willa Cather

Wherever I happen to be (whether home or traveling), on most mornings you can find me hiking along a trail with my finger on the shutter of my camera ready to snap a picture. There is so much beauty in nature that rarely do I go through a day without seeing something that is worth stopping time and capturing forever.
The type of photography that brings me the most joy is macro photography. There is something so special about slowing down and getting up close and personal to a flower, insect, raindrop, or leaf and noticing the intricate details that are so often missed by walking right past while headed to the next destination.

Spotted this bee as I was filling my bird feeder today. It sure seemed to be thinking, “Are you looking at me?” Yes, of course I was.

Three colorful birds with seemingly, a bit of attitude.
The one above is a goldfinch, I think. Feel free to correct me in the comments if that is not correct. Both finches, above and below, were photographed along the Great Marsh Trail at the Indiana Dunes National Park.
Last is a great blue heron, intent on making itself presentable at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan.
