Purple loosestrife, a tall and slender plant found in wetlands. Considered an invasive species, this one was beautifully intruding at the Wixom Habitat in Michigan. A lone bee enjoyed its blossoms as it circled from bloom to bloom. More than the tall and slender loosestrife, this nature preserve also has quite a variety of flora and fauna.

By the way, did you notice the dewdrops?
Even though the trail is only about half a mile long, it is worth spending time there. A boardwalk provides an easy walk over wetlands that ends with a fantastic view of East Gallager Lake. Sit awhile at the viewing platform to also see a variety of birds drop by. A city-wide paved bike path runs alongside Wixom Habitat that connects to other parks as well.
Another wildflower at a nature preserve was featured in “Bold and Bright.“
