Back in Time

Think hard and imagine yourself way, way, WAY back in time. Back to the days of silent movies, with organ music creating the mood for images on the big screen.

Having trouble thinking that far back? Here’s some help with some images representing times past taken at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan.

Greenfield Village is the most fun place for kids and the young at heart to experience history. Where else is it possible to take a ride on a real steam powered locomotive or a Model T? There is even a working Herschell-Spillman Carousel. Built in 1913, it continues to take riders round and round all day long.

Posted for this week’s Lens-Artist Challenge – Cinematic. I decided to change some images to black & white to fit the cinematic feel from that time period. Do you think it worked?

  3. We visited Greenfield Village last summer. Our little one was a bit too small to fully enjoy the experience, but us adults had a blast. Love the pictures!

    1. Greenfield Village is one of my favorite places. My parents-in-law took me there the first time I met them many years ago. Now we take our 5 yr old granddaughter as often as we can. 😁

  4. So glad the horse has a good sense of direction, I can’t see a thing through this veil.

    1. hehe! This couple poses there often when Greenfield Village is open. It is the first time I have seen her wear a veil but it was a bit chilly and it was windy. 😁

      1. I like historic sites where people dress up in outfits from days gone by. A veil could be warm on a windy day, and is always mysterious…
