A viceroy butterfly was featured on “Outlined in Black.”

That’s a gorgeous butterfly – a Tennessee blogger often features them on her blog. I guess they don’t get this far north.
I was thinking that I had seen some in Indiana so I looked them up. Yes, they are in the Midwest including Michigan. Apparently, they are mainly found in wetlands and marshes type settings. I don’t remember coming across any around here yet, though.
That’s interesting – I hope to see one some day. I’ve seen some Eastern Tiger Swallowtails this year, but that’s it, although a Monarch was on my car when I ran an errand – no camera on me though. Hope we see one at our respective marsh visits.
I hope so too! I find butterflies really difficult to capture because they are usually too fast for me. They are off before I can even click. 😦
They do flit off quickly – I’m only lucky to get them if they are deep down into a flower. I got a pretty Eastern Tiger Swallowtail a few weeks ago – perfect, with no tears, perfect flower with no brown or rot on it. That doesn’t always happen either.
It sure doesn’t. Makes it so special when you are able to capture a beautiful butterfly on a perfect flower.
Yes, I felt pretty lucky that beautiful butterfly paused for so long on the coneflower.
