Chasing the Light

As I photograph nature I find myself chasing the light often. That includes staying ahead of the raindrops on gray, stormy days.

The amount of light changes quickly. These two images were taken on the same day, same hike, and a few minutes apart. Moving slightly ahead along the trail on the image below, the sunlight was already brighter within minutes. By the time I was done with my three mile hike, the clouds were mostly gone. The day ended in bright sunshine.

Since nature photographers look for the best light at all times, does that make us storm chasers?
