Breaking Through the Haze of Morning

Thinking back to the 19 years that we lived in Indiana, I realize that I miss the familiar trails at the Indiana Dunes National Park just a little bit. The most fun hikes for me were always when I got out there early enough to watch the sunrise breaking through the haze of morning.

In Beverly Shores, the Great Marsh Trail, was one of my favorite places for so many reasons. It is a wonderful spot for photography with beautiful landscapes and a variety of birds, large and small. In the spring and summer, wildflowers and insects are in abundance as shown on a previous blog post, A Thistle and a Bee.

What about you? Are you ready for an adventure? Grab your phone and put on some comfy shoes. Before you head out, I have one question for you.

What is your favorite place to hike?

Now, open that door to break through the haziness of life and explore the beautiful world around you.

  1. Such a lovely morning view from your walk, Irene!

P.S. Indiana Dunes and Indiana Jones rhymes so perfectly 😀

    1. heehee! I love that. Headed out to get me an Indiana Jones hat for my next hike. 😂

    1. Yay! So glad you enjoyed the hazy morning. 😊

  2. Stunning shot of the sunrise. I can see why you like this place so much. We haven’t been to Indiana Dunes before, but it’s on my list. I’d love to visit every national park in Canada and the United States.

    1. I hope you get to check every single national park off your list! That would be amazing. If you ever head to the Indiana Dunes, let me know. Would love to connect with you along the way for coffee or lunch. 😊

      1. I will! That would be lovely to meet up!

  3. Wonderful!🌅💛

    1. Thank you very much, Gisela. 😊

  4. Though I will never again be able to hike to the waterfalls in Shenandoah National Park, they will always be my favorites. Perhaps you can revisit Indiana Dunes sometimes, Pepper! 😊

    1. I looked up Shenandoah National Park since I was not familiar with that park and it looks wonderful. I think I would enjoy it too!

Yes, I am glad that I am close enough to the Indiana Dunes National Park to be able to get there occasionally. Three and a half hours isn’t a bad road trip at all.

  5. I used to hike the ridges around my house and loved it. My knees failing me and the onslaught of ticks curtailed those hikes. I miss those days!

    1. I understand that completely. I have started to feel a strain on my knees so I am pretty careful about where I go and how much I push myself. Thanks for the reminder that I really should be more cautious about ticks. 😉

  6. Indiana Dunes is a wonderful place. In Illinois, I enjoyed walking in McDowell Forest Preserve. Here in Arizona, there’s a riparian park not far from us which is lovely.

    1. Thanks for introducing me to two places I was not aware of. My hubby and I have talked about going back to Arizona at some point. I have added the Riparian Park to my list of places to visit. 😊
