Bean Blossom Bridge

A few years ago, we took a road trip in search of covered bridges in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. One of my favorites was the Bean Blossom Bridge in Brown County, Indiana.

  5. It’s a lovely bridge, Irene. Why the name, do you know? xx

    1. Yes, a great question and one that I actually know the answer to. It is named after the creek that flows underneath, the Bean Blossom Creek. Thanks, Jo. 😊

      1. Great! Thanks, Irene xx

  6. Nice one (and photo), Pepper. We are fortunate to have a similar bridge 1/4 mile from our house that we drive through all the time. It was built in 1869.

    1. How exciting! I am so glad that some of those covered still exist, especially the ones that are still in use to drive through.

      1. It was closed for many years until funds were raised for its renovations (over a million $), now open for light traffic. Big trucks still have to go around the long way!

        1. Oh, my! So very glad that funds were raised to save it. I would love to see it. 😊

          1. Funnily enough, I have never photographed it. The roads and buildings around it aren’t very photogenic, alas. The best view is probably from the river looking up. Sadly, my clambering days are over. 🙁

            1. I understand. I think that is what makes the Bean Blossom Bridge so enchanting. There is nature all around it and it is not easy to find.😉

  7. Great red choice!

    1. Thanks, Sandy. 😊

  8. Wonderful photo, Pepper, lovely bridge and I like all the greenery surrounding it. Sounds like a fun adventure!

    1. Thanks, Jet. It sure was a fun road trip that I’d like to do again sometime. 😊

  10. We don’t have bridges like this in England, Pepper, …. Covered over, But this is a fantastic photo and so atmospheric, …as bushboy said, they look fascinating, …💙

    1. Wow and thank! There is not much that England does not outdo us on in the USA. I’ll take covered bridges for the US on our Independence Day. 😉
