Off the Beaten Path

What is more fun than planning a road trip off the beaten path? A chance to revisit some of those unfrequented spots and add a few new ones as well.

A trip through southern Indiana is in the works and there’s one place I must stop at again. The Bean Blossom Bridge is a one-lane bridge in Brown County that is most definitely off the beaten path yet, that only makes it more intriguing to me.

Built in 1880 and one of the few one-lane covered bridges still open to traffic, it is not easy to find. The gravel road getting there is also not in great shape but seeing the bridge was worth the dirt and mud on our car. Most exciting part is – I am going back! That is part of the plan that is in the works.

    1. Thanks, Gisela. 😊

  4. I love how green the trees are! I’m ready for them to break bud again. We are fortunate to have a covered bridge (1869) 1/4 mile away that we cross every day we go out. My son jokes that we live in a gated community. πŸ˜€
