A Hike Through Sunshine and Shadows

After living in Michigan for a few months I am still exploring hiking trails. One surprise was Proud Lake Recreation Area in Commerce Twp, Michigan. A tree lined trail through sunshine and shadows was the first one I tried at Proud Lake.

With trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, there is much more adventure to be had at Proud Lake. I am drawing a line at mountain biking, though. That fun will be left to others. The enjoyment of hiking for me is getting away from the fast pace of driving in traffic. Plus, I am a danger to myself and others while on a bike of any kind.

What about you?
Would you rather take a hike, go mountain biking,
or horseback riding?

A hike of a different kind in Indiana was posted on “Along the Creek.”

  1. […] More photos from the same trail were posted on “A Hike Through Sunshine and Shadows.” […]

  2. It’s been a while since I have sat on a horse’s back, but I wouldn’t mind trying again. But a hike among those trees also sounds appealing.

    1. Come on over and I’ll show you right where this trail is. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. My hiking days are over, short walks are it until my knees are repaired, alas. Forget the bike and I haven’t been on a horse since my teens!

    1. Biking is not my thing either and I’ve never been on a horse. I hope your knees get repaired soon. Good for you for getting short walks in. Your gardening must give you a good workout as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. I feel like a slacker, but I make the effort!

        1. Slacker is not a word that would ever cross my mind when thinking of you, Eliza. ๐Ÿ˜Š

          1. Ha, my spouse claims the same, so there may be some truth in that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

            1. There you go! Our spouses and kids usually know us best so it’s confirmed. You are definitely NOT a slacker. ๐Ÿ˜

  4. I’m not sure about hiking per se, but a nice walk!

    1. A nice walk suits me just fine too. That is what it ends up being whenever I see pretty flowers. It slows me down to the pace of a crawl. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Hiking or horseback riding for me.

    1. Thanks for responding. I’ve never been horseback riding but it is on my bucket list. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Looks like a nice path for hiking. Iโ€™m getting a little old for mountain bikes.

    1. I understand. Hiking is more my speed as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  7. We love hiking in the woods and amongst the trees. Thank you for participating.

    1. Thanks for hosting. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  8. That looks a lovely path for a warm day! No way would you get me on a mountain bike, I’d much rather walk!

    1. It was a fun hike. I am looking forward to exploring other trails at this park. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Glad you think so, Gisela. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
