Abstract Reflections

Sunshine created abstract reflections at Island Lake in Brighton, Michigan. A slight breeze caused a mirror of shimmering, abstract shades of green on the water.

A serene river scene showing calm water with reflections of green trees and a fallen branch.

  2. Water reflections are one of my favorite things to photograph. This looks very peaceful here.

    1. It is very peaceful and also close to home. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. That is even better! I have always liked reflection pictures. I took some photos last year and the algae was so thick on the surface of the water that when the ducks paddled through it, it looked like a Monet painting, all swirly. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Sounds amazing. Are the pics on your blog?

          1. Yes, they are – I’ll see if I can find them. It was at Heritage Park in the manmade lake. I also have a post coming up on Sunday with a lot of green water reflections (most of it duckweed, but some could be algae as the walk was on September 10th).

            1. I’ll search for them. ๐Ÿ˜Š

              1. I’m glad I could find them for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

          2. Here you are Pepper, but you’ll have to scroll about 3/4s down to see the green water and ducks paddling around in it. The water was bad, full of algae and also a lot of feathers, but the green goo swirled around like a lava lamp. I have another post somewhere but can’t remember what park, but I think it was here and in the Fall with the many Maple trees reflecting on the water.

            1. Thanks for the link! I didn’t have to search. I loved the ducklings!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

              1. I searched for ducklings and then for reflections for the other post … I’m surprised more reflections didn’t come up in the key words. Those ducklings were freshly hatched and so darn cute. I went as close as I could to them. ๐Ÿ™‚ I take a lot of gosling shots, but don’t “release” them all at once but stagger them through the Summer/Fall.

                1. Smart of you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

          3. Pepper, I found the Fall reflections picture – as reflections go, this was probably my favorite reflections post ever. It’s a pretty park in the historical part especially, but sometimes the water is just awful. They really need to clean it or treat it with something that won’t hurt the waterfowl.

            1. Thanks, Linda. The reflections are wonderful. I was not able to comment on the link. I’ll try again.

              1. Thank you Pepper – this was taken with my digital compact camera, (as was the ducklings/duck post) which I usually take when I go to this park. The Botanical Gardens does not like when you use a DSLR and a few years back they started that you need to get a photography permit and pay a fee. I was stopped once when I had the DSLR and said I was a personal blogger, gave the woman my blog site name, so now, I don’t take it anymore. There are lots of Maples and it was peak color, so made for nice reflections, the duck zipping through it. I’m sorry, I should have mentioned that I close comments after 30 days to keep my SPAM down. I used to have 100s of SPAM comments daily, so now I rarely get any.

                1. Spam comments are so annoying. I think I might do the same thing. ๐Ÿค”

                  1. Several bloggers I follow do that, though it is inconvenient if you send someone an old blog post as I did to you, but it saves you checking for legitimate comments if there is a lot of SPAM.

                    1. I don’t mind it at all. Besides I can still “like” it and I completely understand wanting to cut down on spam.

                    2. Yes, I am glad we still have the ability to “like” it.

    1. Thanks, Sandy.

  3. I love reflections in water. That’s a great photo!

    1. Thanks, Dan. Reflection get my attention every time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thanks, Cath. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. Serene and stunning

    1. Thanks! It was a beautiful morning to be outdoors. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. A nice shot.

    1. Thanks, Rupaliu. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  6. Beautiful lush green!

    1. Thanks, Nora.

  7. Phew, at first I thought those lumps were alligators! ;D

    1. hehe! Nope, I haven’t seen any alligators in Michigan so far. ๐Ÿ˜

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
