Through the Bamboo Forest

Hiking the path through the bamboo forest on the Pipiwai Trail on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

On my list of one of the most memorable hikes I’ve done, the Pipiwai Trail is worth experiencing. It is about 4 miles round trip with a wonderful waterfall to see along the way.

A dense grove of bamboo with lush green foliage, creating a narrow pathway leading through the plants.

Two images from a sunrise over Maui were featured on “Haleakala National Park.”

    1. So glad it came through the images. This National Park is my absolute favorite of the ones I’ve been to so far.

      1. I have never been to Hawaii, but have seen photos of how picturesque it is. It seemed like you were enveloped in green.

        1. It is so lovely! Hawaii was at the top of list of places I wanted to visit ever since I was hooked on the original Hawaii Five-O as a kid. 😁

          1. I remember that show too. “Book him Danno!” It looks a little like paradise from what I’ve seen.

            1. I thought you might remember that show! 😁 Hawaii definitely seems like paradise.

              1. Except the earlier episodes, as they were past my bedtime and/or on a school night, so I likely watched the re-runs. πŸ™‚ Paradise looks good any time of the year!

                1. Very true. πŸ˜‰

  5. Gorgeous green!

    1. Yes, it is. This entire National Park is incredible. 😊

  6. Very nice shots, Pepper! I’ve been amongst a canopy also and the canes clicking in the breezes were very cool-sounding!

    1. Yes, I find the sound of bamboo clicking so soothing. Thanks for stopping by, Donna. 😊

  7. But I doen’t know, what is “hiking”? Do you goe by bicycle or walking?

    1. That is a great question, Gisela. Hiking is a form of walking. I consider hiking a longer walk on trails or rugged terrain and possibly changes in elevation. It is usually referred to as walking if it is a casual, easy walk for a shorter distance and more level ground. I hope that helps. 😊

      1. Thank You very much. Not 🚴🚲 but πŸšΆπŸƒ

  10. Very jungly! A sound I’ll never forget hearing, while in Jamaica, was the clunk of canes as the breeze rippled through the canopy, Nature’s music!

  11. So tall and dense!

    1. Yes, it is. Sections of the forest were so dense that very little sunlight filtered through.

  12. Wonderful!
Where is the Haleakala National Park?

    1. Thanks, Gisela. It is on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. I appreciated you asking because I realized I had not mentioned that. I updated the post to clarify the location.

  13. Straight out of a fairytale 😍

    1. Yes, it is! The bamboo forest was at the top of my list of things to do in Maui and it didn’t disappoint. 😊
