The Glare

The Glare

I got the glare from a gorilla while visiting the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas. Looks like he didn’t want his photo taken. What do you think?

  1. I think you have a real talent for portraiture.

    1. Aw, thank you so much. I’ve never seen myself as doing portraiture so I appreciate your encouraging comment. 😊

  2. It definitely is saying to back off! What a great photo.

    1. Thanks, Sue. I kept my distance, for sure. 😉

  3. Love that he made eye contact with your camera though!

    1. Me, too! Really makes a huge difference on an image. 😊

  4. I agree Pepper – the current going rate for pictures is two bananas for one pose to be paid in advance (of course). 🙂

    1. Good to know! That’s where I went wrong. I didn’t have any bananas. 😁

      1. Yes and now that you know this info you’ll be getting a smile, not a snarl next time, right? I know this method always worked for the squirrels, so ….

        1. Ummm . . . . Feeling like this is one of those moments that I have sometimes when talking with my hubby when I smile and say, “Yes, dear. I might try that.”
          NOT! 😂

          1. Ha ha – yes, no doubt. It’s best not to tangle with this creature. 🙂 I was watching a video about a man and woman walking in Yellowstone and they were nowhere near a bison. They each stopped and took a photo. A woman at a picnic table was making a video of the bison as it was rolling around in the grass. All of a sudden, it jumped up and took off after the man, chasing him around the woods, they caught up with him and tossed him eight feet into the air. Scary!

            1. Glad you got my teasing. 😁
People seem to forget that no matter how beautiful the animals are, they are still wildlife.

              1. Yes, I did, but wow – this guy was walking across the street and really not that close … the woman who moved away from her picnic table when the bison arrived, was closer. I am amazed. Yes, even geese – a video a few years ago circulated about how a young golfer walked past a gander whose mate was likely sitting on a nearby nest and the gander attacked the young man and knocked him off his feet.

                1. Incredible. 😮

                  1. Yes, not like he was up close and the bison went after him, not the woman walking next to him. I’ve not been to Yellowstone, but there is a sign that says “please don’t take selfies with the fluffy critters.”

                    1. I haven’t been there either but it seems like common sense to keep a large distance from the wildlife.

                    2. Yes, it does. I think I’d stay in my car. But I have read this comment today “the two were hundreds of yards away – but another man stopped and provoked the bison (in his vehicle) causing the animal to charge the vehicle. When the coward drove off, the old man and child were left unexpectedly in the path of the charging animal. The old man distracted the animal to save the child.” (He was 65 – not old in my opinion.)

  5. He’s looking for trouble!

    1. Very possible, Linda. 😊

  6. Love this photo! 😍 Beautiful composition and mood! And he looks like he’s in a mood. Lol!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the image, Brian. 😊

  7. Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t mess with him!

    1. Keeping your distance is a smart move. 😉

  8. He looks so sad.

    1. I might be sad too if I was in an enclosed area.

  9. A fantastic frame.

    1. Thanks, Rupali. 😊

  10. Nope. I am not going anywhere near that bloke

    1. Smart! He didn’t seem to want to be bothered. 😕

  11. Wow! Definitely not! Fantastic capture, Pepper.

    1. Thank you, Lynette. 😊

  12. Oh wow, a silverback! Amazing shot, Pepper!

    1. Thanks, Terri. 😊
