Stage of Decay

Stage of Decay

A lone coneflower, once without blemish, was now in the beginning stage of decay when photographed. The phases of deterioration bring on the variations of colors and capture my attention every year.

For us in the Midwest, golden colors are gone and replaced by the whiteness of snow. With snowfall through the night, we have awakened to scenes of gray and white backgrounds. That is quite a contrast from the autumn colors of stage of decay, isn’t it?

A fallen autumn leaf was featured on a earlier post, “Lingers On.
