Sign Worth Heeding

Sign Worth Heeding

On a cold winter day, I found sign worth heeding on the shores of Lake Michigan. This was taken a few years ago at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

A warning sign on a snowy landscape advises not to risk life by keeping off shelf ice.

Another scene from the same beach on a much warmer day was featured on Sounds of Silence.

  1. We have cautionary signs on some of our beaches in the winter too. And yet there’s always someone who risks it.

    1. I’ll never understand why people ignore the warnings.

  2. I guess the question is how many people take notice of it?

    1. I spent a lot of morning walking at this spot year round. Surprisingly, most people seemed to be cautious but all it takes is one bad decision.

  3. They warn people around here a lot, as you probably know, especially the ice fisherman who set up their shanties and continue fishing there, even when the ice is no longer thick enough.

    1. It sure can be and some people are not cautious.

  4. Thin ice always manages to claim a victim around here, every year.

    1. Same on Lake Michigan. People don’t realized how dangerous it is.

  5. Yep I guess so. Watching TV as a kid, shows like Tarzan, Jungle Jim, Superman, heck even Gilligans Island, I thought quicksand was more of a problem than it really is

    1. haha! But they sure were fun to watch. 😁
