Shades of Green

Gardens, the perfect places for capturing shades of green. A garden without the color green is like a morning without sunshine.

Squiggly lines outlining the leaf, highlighted by the sunshine, caught my attention on the first image. This lily pad was floating peacefully in a pond at Matthaei Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

While walking along the Indiana Dunes National Park trails, I came across the tomatoes above and the unfurling fern below. The rest of the images were captured while exploring gardens in Chicago, including the Lincoln Park Conservatory and Garfield Park Conservatory.

  1. Love these! When we scroll the page up and down, the palm leaf shows an interesting ‘movement’!

  2. Pepper, your post beautifully captures the essence of green in all its variations! ๐ŸŒฟ Gardens truly are perfect places to appreciate the depth and diversity of this color, and your images bring that to life.

The squiggly outlines on the lily pad sound like natureโ€™s own delicate embroideryโ€”what a lovely detail to notice! And finding tomatoes along the Indiana Dunes trails must have been a delightful surprise. Your explorations through Chicagoโ€™s gardens remind me how much joy can be found in simply observing plants in different settings.

Thanks for sharing these momentsโ€”your words and images make me feel like Iโ€™m walking those trails and gardens alongside you! Looking forward to more of your green-filled adventures. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

    1. Aw thanks for your comment, Michael. Green is my five year old granddaughter’s favorite color and not just any green will do! It has to be a particular shade of LIGHT green. She has taught me a whole lot about the variations of the color green. ๐Ÿ˜‚
