Return to Winter

Return to Winter

After a few days of sunshine and warmth, we’ve had a return to winter. It is back to freezing temps and snowfall outdoors. Too early in the year for blooming plants, an alternative to photographing blooms is doing it indoors.

First, in my sunroom is a bromeliad on the left. The succulent on the top right is not blooming yet but its natural rosettes remind me of blossoms. In the center, this orchid is on its third round of blooming since buying it on clearance a year ago. At the bottom, is my first try at growing an air plant.

Spring buds about to bloom were featured on “Things to Come.”

  1. Lovely captures. Seems like spring is a long way from here given all the snow and cooler temperatures. But at least the days are getting longer, which is a good sign that winter will eventually pass.

    1. Very true! Morning person that I am, I am enjoying the having an earlier sunrise. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. I’m sure you will be in summer soon Pepper.

    1. Looking forward to it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. This is one way to promote beauty in this cold and snowy weather. I am not lucky with indoor plants and have seemingly lost my green thumb outdoors as well. A friend of mine gave me an air plant growing in a squirrel planter and it died. How does one kill an air plant?

    1. I got my first air plant thinking it would be easy to care for. After reading up on how to care for it, I realized I’d have to remember to spray it with water. I keep forgetting! ๐Ÿ˜œ

      1. My mom had one for years – it hung on a small wooden plaque and she would spray it in the sink and it thrived. Mine, I didn’t want to spray it too much and I think that is what killed it.

        1. I’ll probably forget to spray it one too many times. We will see. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          1. I hope it makes it!

            1. Me too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Refreshing on a cold day!

    1. I am learning more about that joy every single winter day. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
