This week, I am highlighting the Secretarybird or secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) once again. I got a few shots of the secretary bird before it had enough of photographers. I managed one last click as it prepared for takeoff to another spot at Maasai Mara National Reserve.

According to a few different sites, the secretary bird’s name comes from its long quill-like feathers on its neck. The thought is that the feathers resemble the quill pens that secretaries once used and tucked behind their ears.
