Open Roundhouse Doors

Looking from the inside out, through the open roundhouse doors at Greenfield Village.

View through a brick archway of a railway roundhouse, showcasing train tracks and vintage carriages in a historic setting with greenery outside.

Below is a view of the same doors from the outside .

A view of a historic roundhouse featuring several large black doors, brick walls, and visible train tracks. An orange train is partially visible inside one of the doors under a clear blue sky.

Another view of the doors and more info on the roundhouse was featured on “Doors at the Railroad Roundhouse.

  1. These are spectacular photos and grand doors!

    1. So glad you enjoyed the doors, Brenda. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. 😊

    2. Thanks, Brenda. Those doors are pretty special. 😊

  2. Beautiful designed doors to die for, Pepper,…opening to let the outside in, … 💙

    1. They really are pretty impressive. Glad you enjoyed them. 😊

  3. The open Roundhouse doors are so perfectly symmetrical.

    1. Yes, they are. Have you seen the Roundhouse at Greenfield Village?

      1. No, I have not seen it, unless it was there in 1976. I have not been to Greenfield Village since 1976 when I took my grandmother to see the Village and Museum. My grandmother grew up on a farm in rural Ontario, then left for the “big city” (Toronto). She was fascinated with the farm implements, explaining each one to me and spent a long time showing me what she wore after moving to Toronto. It was a special moment for both of us. I write a post about her every Grandparents Day and will be writing about that visit this year, since it is 50 years since I went. I imagine that Greenfield Village will be doing some special events for the USA’s 250th anniversary this year.

        1. Oh, I hope they do have something special planned. That would be so much fun. Maybe we should meet up there sometime.

          1. I am sure they will do something to celebrate the 250th anniversary. I’m trying to think if there was anything going on special when we were there as it was the bicentennial. That would be nice.

  4. Fabulous and functional doors in a wonderful building 😀

    1. They are definitely both and even more amazing seeing them closeup.

  5. Beautiful and functional, too!

    1. Yes, it is both. Which makes it even more interesting.

  6. Beautiful architectural elements, the doors!

    1. Yes, it is. It is amazing how huge they are too. Large enough to get a steam engine through them.

  7. Wow! A working roundhouse. I don’t think it gets any better than that. I love those doors, and the brickwork on the building.

    1. I agree! This is one of my favorite buildings in Greenfield Village. The work they do there is amazing.
