One Step at a Time #2

One Step at a Time #2

Here is the One Step at a Time #2 Challenge. According to the calendar, spring is officially here. In the Midwest, the weather has not caught up with the calendar yet.

This was my first time experiencing the 2-mile Kihchin Hiking Trail at Brighton State Recreation Area. The biggest surprise was the wonderful carvings on a huge tree trunk. These photos were taken on March 14, 2026.

An image from a different area in Brighton, Michigan was featured on “Abstract Reflections.”

  4. Hey, everybody. Egidio from “Through Brazilian Eyes” shared a wonderful post on pollinators he captured while on a hike. Unfortunately, I had not closed comments on the last week’s post so it was added there yesterday. I don’t want you to miss Egidio’s beautiful butterflies so here is a link to his post for this week.

  5. Lovely captures. Itโ€™s good to take advantage of the trails now before the mosquitoes come out in full force.

    1. That’s a great point. I tried a looped trail around a marsh that today that might get pretty uncomfortable in the middle of summer.

  6. A beautiful pre-spring walk, Pepper! I love that eagle carving, what a cool surprise to see! Here is mine this week, past hikes through early spring wildflowers.

  11. Pepper, I liked how they carved that eagle right into tree – very nice! Here is my post about my 5K virtual walk at Elizabeth Park last Fall. I am not always timely posting my walks as I try to vary them so they don’t all look the same or are taking place at the same venue and also for Terri’s Challenges. I still have more out-of-season walks to share down the road.
