Now what?

As expected, I woke up to a curvy and somewhat steep, sloping driveway covered with ice. That means that I am not able to start my day out on the trails. Now what? On mornings like this, I can easily feel crotchety, like this grumpy vulture that I met at the Phoenix Zoo.

The Grumpy Vulture

I quickly reminded myself that the entire basis of my day (good or bad) starts with my attitude. That led me to think about the things I enjoy doing for fun . . . .

  • hiking
  • photography
  • reading a good book
  • hanging out at Starbucks
  • repeat the above

Since three of the things on my short list involve getting down my driveway first, there is only one thing left to do. That one thing also happens to be the one that I usually have the least amount of time for. Reading! Picking up a book without a purpose, other than the joy of reading. It must be time to grab a cup of tea, a warm chocolate muffin, and curl up with a Robert Galbraith book.

Happiness! Amazing how much brighter my day just got by looking at it through a different lens. Thinking that I will add on to my list for the next time that I find myself contemplating, “What do I do now?”

Have a great day, y’all!

    1. Thanks. 😊

  1. Nice perspective change! I agree with Anitashope that God gives us winters to slow down and to rest. I just realized that and it’s made a world of difference in my life’s outlook. Curling up with a good book with yummy treats sounds perfect for a cold day.

    1. I did enjoy having an excuse to curl up with a book. 😁

  2. Sometimes we need a “bad weather” day to make us stay put and lose ourselves in a good book.

    1. Absolutely and I was glad for that. 😊

  3. I think part of the purpose for winter is for God to tell us to slow down.

    1. I think you are so right about that. I am grateful to be forced to slow down. 😉

  4. Gorgeous sunrise, and definitely a grumpy looking vulture!

    1. Thanks, Donna. I had been hoping for a reason to use the image of the vulture. 😂

  5. 👏🏼 ☕️ 📖 😀

    1. Thanks, Eliza. 😊

  6. Way to adjust with the winter weather curveball! I’m trying to do that myself!

    1. I understand. Winter finally got here with a bang. Looking forward to a bit more warmth over the next few days. 😊

    1. Thanks, Christine. 😉

  7. Well said Pepper. Just like a GFS, recalculating can ease the angst. Happy Tuesday. Allan

    1. Exactly! I have to recalculate often. 😁

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
