Hidden Valley

While in Arizona last month, one morning I ventured off to the Hidden Valley via Mormon Trail in Phoenix. Having a limited amount of time on that day, I was not able to complete the entire four miles of trail. As much as I love to hike, documenting my steps through photography is a priority. For that reason, I chose to take time to stop to enjoy the views and capture as many images as possible.

Sections of the Hidden Valley Trail are considered moderately difficult and portions are a bit steep. There are also some tight squeezes between huge boulders along the way. Both of these images were taken close to the start of the trail where it is fairly easy. Beware of the large rocks that can reach out and trip you if you are distracted by the beautiful scenery. If you are unsure whether or not to try this one, I’d say give it a try. You can alway turn around at some point if it starts to feel too difficult or you are running of time, just like I did this time. One thing to remember on any hike is that however far you go, make sure you have enough energy and water to get back to the start.

If I ever get back to the Phoenix area, I will definitely be heading to the Hidden Valley via Mormon Trail again to see what I missed my first time there.

  1. So much to explore here. I am glad you enjoyed your visit.

    1. Oh, I did! I ended up having to leave three days earlier than planned so I really hope I get to go back sometime. 😊

  5. Such a lovely day for hiking 🙂

    1. Yes, it was. 😊

  6. And watch out for those cholla ball cacti. Desert hiking is interesting. I recall the sign going down Bright Angel Trail into the Grand Canyon. Down is optional. Up is mandatory. The rangers told us tales as to the number of hikers who bite off more than they can chew and have to be carried out. Always good to be aware of your limits. Cheers. Allan

    1. Exactly! It is easy to forget about the going up part as one heads down, down, down a canyon. 😏

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
