Headed to Mackinac Island

Headed to Mackinac Island

Headed to Mackinac Island on Shepler’s Ferry back in 2022.

A coastal view featuring a range of buildings along the shore under a blue sky with scattered clouds and calm water in the foreground.

Another scene taken from the ferry was featured on “Reaching Across Lake Huron.”

  1. Very nice shot of the Island and the water Pepper. I’ve not been there since the late 1960s – I am sure a lot has changed, but maybe not, as they like to preserve the historic hotel and Mackinac Island to look the same. If you go back, you should go during the Lilac season. I understand it is beautiful there at that time. [Here is some info: Lilac season on Mackinac Island typically peaks in early to mid-June (around Father’s Day), featuring a 10-day Lilac Festival celebrating over 250 varieties. The 2026 festival runs from June 5–14, featuring parades, tours, and fragrant, century-old lilac trees.]

    1. I had no idea about the lilacs. I’ve only bern there that one time a few years ago. Definitely need to go back again. Thanks for the info. 😊

      1. I imagine it smells heavenly at that time – you’re welcome!
