Grab the Day

This yellow salsify (also known as goats beard) seems to be reaching out to grab the day or the sunshine along the trails at the Indiana Dunes National Park.

Reaching Out to Grab the Day

As I headed out the door for my morning hike, I found myself wondering what I would be reaching out for and grabbing onto throughout the day. What types of encounters would I have? Would my focus remain on Jesus Christ or would the distractions of the world get in my way?

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold
I’d rather be His than have riches unfold
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or land
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin’s dread sway
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today
