There is something special about experiencing a trail for the first time. This one happened to be a couple of weeks ago at the Ott Biological Preserve in Michigan.

I enjoyed every bit of a four mile looped hike on a crisp, sunny day. The narrowest part of the trail was also through the most dense part of the forest. There were so many leaves on the path that I had to intentionally focus on not stepping off the trail. I knew I would lose track of the trail if I got distracted by the beauty around me.

The 300 acre preserve gets a five star rating from me. After seeing it for the first time, I will try to get there as often as I can. The scenery through wetlands and trees was spectacular. If you are ever in the Battle Creek area of Michigan, it is worth making a stop here.
