As we hiked the Sendero-Esperanza Trail at the Saguaro National Park, I noticed a small bird looking down at us from a saguaro cactus that towered over our heads. I stopped and stared right back at it, trying to decide whether to switch from my 28mm lens to a 400mm lens. Moving very slowly while making the change, I found myself whispering, “Don’t go, don’t go. Please don’t fly away!“ I gradually lifted my camera up to my eye, paused, and focused before clicking the shutter.

Yes, you guessed it! The bird rushed off right as I clicked. This is the one and only shot that I was able to get. I am thinking that if birds could giggle, this one probably got a good chuckle as it flew away.
