After seeing many sunrises, watching and waiting for sunrise still excites me. The colors in the sky are breath-taking as they change with dawn’s first light. Even on stormy mornings, the sun still rises behind the grayness of clouds. Seeing the sun’s rays break through a hole in the clouds makes me smile every time. It reminds me that God is still in control in spite of whatever chaos is going on around me.

It also does not matter where I am while watching dawn’s first light. Above is an image taken a few days ago at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Michigan.
“Creation is the vocal chords of God
speaking each day
through the colors of the sunrise.”

The view below is the first light Wailea Beach in Maui captured earlier this summer. Once the sun pops up on the horizon, it gets bright quickly on clear mornings. CORRECTION – My husband reminded me that this is an image of sunset over Maui and not sunrise. So sorry for my mistake. It is rare for me to be out at sunset as opposed to sunrise.

I have taken photographs of practically every sunrise that I’ve observed while out on the trails. Not all are worth keeping mostly due to my own mistakes. One of my favorite foggy mornings was featured on “Bashful Sunrise.”
