Budding Bloom of an African Violet

Budding Bloom

A result of my venture into hydroponic gardening is the budding bloom of an African Violet.

For a few months, I have been trying hydroponic gardening for indoor plants. I originally purchased this African Violet on clearance since it seemed to be in the dying stages of its life. I decided it was an ideal setup for testing hydroponic gardening. It didn’t take long at all for the plant to perk up. Within a few weeks, the first buds showed up. Soon, I had more blossoms that I’ve ever had on any other African Violet. This bud is from its second blooming. I’d call that a success.

Other buds were featured on “Spring Buds Along the Trail.”

  1. Jealous. My mother in law specialized in growing African violets. However, my attempts always fail. I am much better at outdoor flower gardens, though! love the photo.

    1. My indoor plants also used to fail because I’d forget to water them and then I’d drown them. 😧

  8. Amazing-looking photo Pepper. I have heard African Violets are difficult to grow, so that’s good you did this by hydroponic gardening.

    1. So far, hydroponic gardening is going much better than expected. 😊

      1. That’s great – you will have indoor beauties to capture when it’s bitter cold and snowy outdoors.
