Autumn Blends Into Winter

As autumn blends into winter, there’s a sense of nature curling up and falling asleep.

Trees are mostly bare and before long, the Great Marsh at the Indiana Dunes National Park will be frozen solid with Lake Michigan not far behind. For now, I plan to enjoy as many days with blue skies as possible.

Just wondering, are you heading into winter or summer in your part of the world?

  1. Great shots. It’s been a mild winter so far, which has been nice for spending time outside.

    1. Thanks! This week has definitely been very mild here as well. This morning was a lovely morning with fog. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  2. What a difference from the warmer months to now!! Great pictures.

    1. Thanks, Esther. You are so right about difference. I have enjoyed living somewhere with the change of seasons. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. Gorgeous photos, Pepper! I especially like the reflections in the second photo! <3 Hot cocoa, hot cider. Almost Christmas!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. Have a wonderful Christmas season. ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Thanks, Anita. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. I would like to visit that national park! But not in the winter ๐Ÿ˜Š …our winters here in the desert are lovely! …but it can actually get cold here at night. And we do grumble a bit. But the days are beautiful!!

    1. Please come visit the national park. Spring brings beautiful wildflowers but fall has gorgeous autumn leaves changes. Summer is the best time for enjoying Lake Michigan. Want to stay for three seasons? ๐Ÿ˜

      1. I want to come in the spring for the wildflowers! Maybe someday!

      2. We are actually thinking about going! Maybe in the late spring. Would you have a recommendation as to what area we should stay in?

        1. Spring is a great time to visit here. If you are interested in spending most of your time exploring the national park and Lake Michigan, I recommend the Beverly Shores, IN or Chesterton, IN area. Beverly Shores has several Airbnbโ€™s of all sizes and price ranges. Lake Michigan and several trails are within walking distance. Chesterton has a couple hotels and is closest to the Indiana Dunes Visitors Center. Feel free to send me an email if you have any questions or want more info. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          1. I will! Thank you, Pepper! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    1. Thanks, Christine. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. We’re coming into winter here in Texas, but brrr we think we’re freezing when it gets down to 60 degrees like today. We wear our coats and also our flip flops or sandals. Strange time of the seasons. Most of our so called winter weather comes in Jan. or Feb. haha ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I grew up in Texas so I completely understand. People who live in colder climates quickly complain about the heat when the temp hits 80. I guess it all depends on what you are used to. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  6. Thank You. Wonderful and silent, prepared for winter.โ„๏ธ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ””๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿ™โ™ฅ๏ธ

    1. And waiting for spring. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. We are headed into winter, but so far a very mild one for Montana.

    1. Ah, beautiful Montana. Never been there but on it is on my bucket list. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. It is beautiful! I fell in love with it the first time I saw it when we moved here as a teenager And I love it still!

  8. Looking chilly there… we had snow flurries this morning!

    1. Yay for the snow flurries. We just have dampness with a breeze that cuts through you. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
