A Random Pause

A random pause

While watching a Great Blue Heron, I noticed a goldfinch land on a branch close to me. Of course, I took advantage of. what seemed as a random pause on a branch and clicked.

A small yellow bird perched on a twig, surrounded by a blurred green background.

Birders, please correct me in the comments if this is not a goldfinch. A gallery of three images of a Northern Mockingbird were featured on “Three Sides of Curiosity.“

  1. Sweet capture, Pepper! I have had one goldfinch at my feeders daily for a month, I keep wondering where it’s friends are. I do know he/she’s eating well! 😉

  6. This one is gorgeous. The soft downy feathers, with the claws clinging to the delicate branch. All so pretty.

    1. I am glad you enjoyed the image. Have a wonderful weekend.

  7. It looks like a Goldfinch to me, a female or a molting male?

    1. Thanks for confirming that it’s a goldfinch, Linda. Do both males and females have the yellow coloring?

      1. They are both yellow, but the males, like most male birds, are always more vibrant in color. The males are very pretty, until they molt and then they look more drab like the females. I haven’t added to my home page favorite park pictures in several years, but this is a male Goldfinch. When the sunflowers bloom in late August/early September, the Goldfinch love the seeds.
