Whale Watching in Maui

After waking up to a bit of snow on the lawn and a light layer of ice on the streets, I found myself thinking back to warmth, sunshine, and whale watching in Maui .

There She Blows!

All these whales were photographed on January of 2022, on our first ever whale watching tour with the Pacific Whale Foundation. The experience was unforgettable and so worth the time. Not only did we learn a whole lot, but seeing the grace and beauty of huge whales jumping out of the ocean up close was monumental.

  1. These are such beautiful pictures. How neat to see the whales so up close. We visited Maui a few years ago towards the end of November and were a bit too early for whale season.

    1. So glad you enjoyed the images. Hope you get back to Maui sometime. The whales are a million times more beautiful to watch being right there. 😊

  2. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ“·πŸŒΉ Splendor. It must be an incredibly powerful experience to see a keporkak. πŸ‹ I wish you a beautiful spring Sunday dear IreneπŸŒžπŸŒΉπŸ“·

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. It was one of the best days ever. 😊

  5. Whale watches are unforgettable… I saw my first humpbacks on a cruise out of Boston in the mid-70s when they were just starting them. Nowadays, they are common but sound a bit crowded with boats out there. Some regulation I think has been introduced. The whales are quite forgiving however. I think they are equally amused by the human attention!

    1. I was concerned whether the whales would be bothered or hurt by all the attention. We were told by the boat captain that there are regulations in place to protect them. Once we were away from shore, the engine was turned off. Before long, whales were all around us and they even got close enough to the boat that we felt the spray of water when they came up for a breath. They are so huge that the splash reached pretty far. πŸ˜‰ It was amazing.

  6. Wow. Beautiful. We were staying in Maui many years ago when we saw a mama whale, presumably, swimming with its tail sticking straight out of the water for an extended time, and a baby swimming in circles around it. Quite a sight!

    1. That sounds amazing! Thanks for stopping by, John. 😊

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
