Way Out West

Whether zooming across the skies or flooring the pedal to the metal in my car, I love to travel. Both get me there a whole lot quicker than the covered wagon like the one below that settlers first used to get way out West.

These photos were taken during a trip last month to Saratoga, Wyoming where some of my favorite places to photograph are at Brush Creek Ranch, Magee Homestead, and The Farm at Brush Creek. The first landscape and the one below were captured at Brush Creek Ranch. The center image of the covered wagon is at Magee Homestead.

Here’s a link to a previous post featuring images from The Farm at Brush Creek..

  1. I can see why you enjoy taking pictures of the landscape here. It’s interesting to think what life would have been like back in the day with those covered wagons. I don’t imagine winter would have been much fun.

    1. Life must have been so tough. 🤔

Pretty wild west scenes, Pepper! Is that a little bit of snow?

    1. Yes, there was a bit of snow down in Saratoga and even more up in the mountains along the Snowy Range National Forest. 😁

  3. I love the photos, Pepper! Makes me wonder what life was like all those years ago…

    1. Thanks, Lisa. Spending time in Wyoming has really made me appreciate how difficult life must have been like way back then. 😊

  4. Beautiful work!

    1. Your encouraging words are appreciated much, Inge. 😊

Lovely subtle colors in these shots, Pepper! Love the Conestoga! <3

  6. Wow!
These are very amazing captures from the West, Irene. Very lovely 🙂

    1. Thanks, Hammad. There are many beautiful landscapes out there. 😊

  7. Love the soft look in that first shot. A fun place to visit to learn about the westward migration. Just to clarify, 🙂 that isn’t a stagecoach (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stagecoach) which transported travelers, but a canvas covered farm wagon that families used to travel, similar to the freight-carrying Conestoga wagon. Did you ever read the Little House on the Prairie children’s books? I loved them as a child and even as an adult they give a great view into life during the westward movement.

    1. You are so right and I should have clicked to my error of calling it a stagecoach. Thanks for catching that. Won’t be my last mistake. Of that, I am sure. 😂

      1. I never know whether to point out such things I note, but my mother was a teacher and I guess it is a habit that has been passed down, hehe!

        1. I understand. I definitely appreciate any suggestions or corrections you might have. I try to proofread my posts but I still miss some things. This one was definitely one of those “slap on the forehead” moments for me. 😂

  8. 👏👏👏📷 excellent photos and colors🤗😘🌹 Have a wonderful day dear Irene🌞

    1. Thanks, Mic. Enjoy your day. 😊

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
