Heron Rookery – Indiana Dunes National Park

A hike under the canopy of trees is simply delightful, especially when combined with cooler than normal temperatures and very few pesky mosquitoes. Can’t get much better than that!

Above is the Heron Rookery Trail – one of many trails at the Indiana Dunes National Park. Below, we have the green trails of the Moraine Nature Preserve.

Who knew that NW Indiana had such great places for adventures? I sure didn’t when we first moved here. After over a decade of walking miles of trails, I am still finding new paths to explore and enjoying some of the well-known treks again and again. Need a guide anyone?
