Tiny and Spry

Central Beach – Indiana Dunes National Park

Paused from fluttering about, two tiny and spry unidentified insects. Does anyone know what these are? Fruit flies, maybe?

  1. Oh interesting. I’m not sure what type of insect this is.

    1. I find these tiny insects are even harder to identify and remenber than birds. ๐Ÿ˜

  2. Not sure exactly which species, but definitely Diptera, possibly gall fly or ?

    1. That is so helpful! I looked up Diptera after reading your comment and it makes sense. I had thought it could possibly be a mosquito but seemed too big when I tried to figure it out earlier but too small for what I think of as a horse fly. I didn’t have a bit of a clue and was just guessing. Thank you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. My pleasure! I can guess family groups, but sometimes actually species allude me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Wonderful coulored wings!

    1. Aren’t they wonderful? They seem to change color according to the light. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. Jes, I hink they do.๐Ÿ’

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
