  1. I’m sure it’s much easier to walk across a snowy sand dune when it’s frozen

    1. Yes, it is unless it is icy. Then it can be treacherous. ๐Ÿ˜

  2. I remember visiting this trail and seeing this scene! No snow then though ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. I still regret that we didn’t get a chance to meet on that day. ๐Ÿ˜

  3. I always find it strange that snow can settle on sand given that we use sand to melt snow. It must have been very cold for it to have settled.

    1. Oh, my goodness! It had not clicked with me that in parts of the country that don’t get much snow, sand is used to melt it. Usually by this time of the year, the snow on the Lake Michigan beaches are frozen solid even if snow is not covering it. We have had a mild winter so far. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. I experienced frozen sand for the first time in my life last month (my Wordless photo for this week). So it makes sense that if sand is frozen it won’t melt snow. I have found memories of my father sprinkling a mixture of salt and sand on snow to help melt it.

        1. Doesn’t it feel odd to step on frozen sand? I grew up in the warmth of Texas and only saw the sandy beaches along the Gulf Coast. We moved to the cold Midwest in the winter. My first time seeing Lake Michigan, it was frozen solid as far as my eye could see. The scene seemed so incredibly WRONG! ๐Ÿ˜‚

          1. Yes, I agree, it feels very odd stepping onto frozen sand.

You thoughts about Lake Michigan being frozen are the same thoughts I had when spending Christmas in a warm climate. It just didn’t feel like Christmas to me. I’ve only done it the once. Never again.

  4. It looks a bit cold there by the dunes ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Good morning Anita. Other than a crazy couple of days right before Christmas, weโ€™ve had a rather mild winter so far. I think most of us who live in the Midwest are grateful for that.. ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. Same her in Cyprus, a mild winter, so far and I’m very grateful for that too ๐Ÿ˜€

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
