Grayscale or Color

It is time to make a choice once again. Which do you prefer, grayscale (b&w) or color?

Photo taken in September of this year, when the trees still had leaves on the Upland Trail at Pinhook Bog – Indiana Dunes National Park.

  1. Apart from liking the color contrast between green leaves and gray bridge, I noticed that the distant yellowish streaks were clearly part of the color scene, while the corresponding white streaks in the grayscale scene looked like artifacts of printing from a damaged negative. (Yes, I am old enough to remember printing from negatives.)

    1. I am also old enough to remember film cameras being the only thing available but I never had access to one. Regrettably, I had no interest in photography until around 10 years ago. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Colour, but that’s only because we don’t have any greenery this time of the year!

    1. I completely understand. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. Beautiful B&W!

    1. Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  4. I think the green. It was a close choice though ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thanks for joining in, Cee. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. Color this time! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. This one is a battle! I thought b&w was gonna win it but color has suddenly picked up the pace. ๐Ÿค”

  6. Think I prefer the color on this one.

    1. Ah, color is picking up the pace. ๐Ÿ˜

  7. I like both but I see far more colour so I think the bridge in the black and white is distinct .

    1. Thanks for your response. I enjoy asking for help on this question because I often cannot decide on my own. ๐Ÿ˜

  8. What stood out to me was the sunshine on the trees. In the b&w it looks like scratches on the photo but in the color it show the magical hope of an early morning sun. I am generally not a fan of b&w but it is a different way to view what you see.

    1. You are so right. It always surprises me how different a scene can look in b&w compared to color. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. I think I’m usually more attracted to the colors and the light as it reflected on the tree trunks in the background. A very nice shot

    1. Thanks for your input, Jon. Have a wonderful week. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  10. Hard to choose… I love green as you know, but the bridge really comes into focus in the gray version.

    1. Oh, yay! I really thought youโ€™d go for the green. ๐Ÿ˜

Thoughtful words accomplish much.
