Don’t Do It!

Blue skies and an afternoon full of sunshine on Lake Michigan makes it look like you can walk along the beach in shorts and without a jacket, but don’t do it! Take a closer look and you’ll see a bit of snow on the sandy shores of Dunbar Beach – Indiana Dunes National Park. The bright sun melted most of the overnight snowfall quickly but there is still a chill in the air.

  1. I’m always amazed to see people wear short sleeves and shorts in certain conditions. They seem to solely go by the presence of sunshine, rather than by the actual temperature.

    1. I often find myself at the other extreme. I dress for the outdoors since that is where I am most of the time and then find myself burning up when indoors. ๐Ÿ˜‚

      1. I also would rather wear too many clothes and be warm. One can always peel off layers.

        1. My thoughts exactly. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Beautiful photos for this week CMMC challenge. Thanks Pepper. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Thanks, Cee. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  3. It’s here the same at our coast, we have bright sunshine and what the English call cold. It’s just a little frost. Actually, your beach looks like the beach behind our house at the coast of North Norfolk.
    Thanks for sharing

    1. It would be fun visit North Norfolk to compare the two, I think. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

      1. North Norfolk is quite famous for thousands of grey seal breading at our beach from end of November to the end of January (nearly 7000 in the last season). One of the biggest colonies in Europe.

        1. Oh, my! That must be an amazing sight to see. ๐Ÿ˜Š

          1. Indeed, it is. Dina’s photos of this grey seal colony have been published in all big national papers like The Guardian and The Times f.e. We blogged about it several times f.e. here

  4. Beautiful blues contrasting with the golden grasses… is it unusual to have open water this time of year?

    1. Not so unusual. The lake usually freezes a bit more than it has this year. When it has frozen as far as I could see in past years, it only last a couple weeks or so before it starts to melt. Bright sunshine and high waves can break it up fairly quickly. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. It looks very nice in your pictures but I can imagine the cold.

    1. Just a bit chilly but so glad to have done sunshine. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Words can brighten the grayest of days.
