Aimless Weaving

While hiking along trails, I often come across some trees with interesting curly vines. Some seem very methodical in their growth or swirls as the one above. Then, there’s the one below that is irregular with aimless weaving within itself.

The second one is much like what my hiking app shows as the pattern of my hikes. My tendacy is to be sporadic and without a sense of purpose or direction of where I am going but somehow, I usually find my way back to where I started.

  1. Mesmerizingly wonderful πŸ™‚

    1. I agree that vines are mesmerizing. Thanks for stopping by, Hammad.

  2. Curly-Qs! πŸ™‚ Oh, I just love getting twisting vines in my bird shots, but never paid much close-up attention to them, great shots! I never know where I will travel, but I always find my way back too.

    1. As they say, great minds think alike. 😁

  3. These swirly vines look pretty neat. Sometimes it’s all about the journey rather than the destination!

    1. I couldn’t agree more with you and I love the journey. 😁

  4. These curling wines look Like snakes.

    1. You are so right about that, Gisela. They look exactly like snakes but I am very glad they don’t bite. 😁

  5. What ist with your hinking?

    1. Very good question. I love to hike and I always have my camera with me. When I head outdoors every morning, I don’t have a plan or purpose. I usually head to wherever the natural light seems to be the best. While walking along the trails, I often get distracted by things I see and end up going in all different directions, except straight. πŸ˜‚

      1. Thank You.☺️

        1. My pleasure. 😊

  6. Wonderful and very interesting Fotos of the roots of plants!

    1. Great eye, Gisela. They actually do look like roots but they most definitely are not. They grow above the ground and as tall as the tree goes. Some that I’ve seen are maybe 10 feet tall or more. The taller the tree is, the thicker the vine is that is up high and hanging down. Pretty amazing. These vines were only about eye level for me which would only be about 5 feet up. 😁

      1. Thank You very much for your declaration ( right word?). These wines are hanging down the trees, too, and are very long. They look like roots, but are’t.
In Germany we mesure in Meter, not in feet. So I doen’t know, how long they really are.

        1. Declaration works fine because it means declaring something to be true which in this case, I consider it to be very true. Affirmation is another word that would probably be used more often in this situation since it is used more as a support or encouragement of a true statement.

I wasn’t sure of the difference between a meter and a foot either but I got curious after reading your comment. Google is most helpful to me. It says that 1 foot is equal to 0.3048 meters. So I guess that means that a tree that is 10 feet tall is about 3 meters. Hope that helps. 😁

          1. I just realized that I must be about 1.5 meters tall. I didn’t know that! 😁

          2. Thank You for your affirmations. (I Hope, IT IS now the right word?)β˜ΊοΈπŸ’

            1. Gisela, you do very well with the English language. Most of us don’t do half that well with a second language. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸΎ

  7. I love your application to hiking, AND that your hiking is wherever your feet take you.

    1. Your comment made me smile. I never realized how much I twist and turn while hiking until I started using an app to help me not get lost and also to see how far I’ve gone. I am pretty much all over the place except heading in a straight line. πŸ˜‚

      1. Hahaha. I love it. As long as you know your way home, it’s all good.

        1. Without the hiking app I’d be lost forever. 😁
