Don’t tell a soul, but I occasionally get off familiar trails to explore. On this day, I came across quite a surprise. An old, abandoned car overtaken by the landscape of the Indiana Dunes National Park.

I wonder how long this abandoned car has been here for.
Not a clue but it must be a very long time. I have been hiking this area for about 10 years and it has been overgrown for longer than that. Thinking I need to find it again and try to identify the make of the car. 🤔
I also love exploring off the beaten path. It’s evocative to come across something like this old car, but it always makes me so sad because it’s just a reflection of humankind dumping our trash wherever and whenever and causing pollution in the process. 🙁

I wonder if the tree caused the abandonment or the the tree fell much later. Great shot.
I am pretty sure the car was abandoned first. A street used to go through here many years ago before the area became property of the Indiana Dunes National Park. Not too far from the car, there are also remains of a chimney that used to be part of a house.
I love how nature takes over. Proof to me that God’s creation is stronger than anything we build.
